Some of you may know me via my blog ‘I Am…LondonDiva’
Some may remember me as a former member of LHCF (Long Hair Care Forum) as LondonDiva.
Some of you may follow me on Twitter as LondonDiva.
I think that answers the question…online I go by the name LondonDiva.
Where are you from?
Born and raised Brit since 1979 in London, United Kingdom.
What is your ethnic background?
I am Black, Both of my parents are Black and were born in Jamaica, West Indies.
What is your hair type?
My hair type is a thick and coarse 4B hair texture.
Are you natural?
No I am not natural, although many people do think I am. I use a relaxer to texturize my hair.
Which relaxer brand do you use?
I was a faithful user of Affirm by Avlon for many years. I now use Mizani Butter Blends.
How often to do you texturize your hair?
I use a relaxer to texturize my hair no more than 2-3 times a year.
Are you opposed to being natural, why do you relax/texturize your hair with a chemical?
No I am not opposed to being natural. For many years I have experimented with my hair and worn these styles proudly. I have been natural and worn my hair in its free natural state without weaves or extensions. I texturize my hair simply out of choice. For me personally it has nothing to do with self hate, nor do I believe my hair choices make me any less of a Black woman compared those who are natural. I wouldn’t rule out going natural again in the future, the same way I wouldn’t rule out locing my hair again.
Which hairstyles have you had/worn before?
Natural
Kinky Twist extensions
Braid Extensions
Weaves
Half Wigs
Locs (natural)
Texturized (chemically curled on short hair)
Relaxed/Texturized
What is your current hair length?
As of January 2011 my current hair length is BSL (Bra Strap Length)
What is your hair length goal?
Ultimately WL (Waist Length) or a bit beyond. I’ll see how I feel when I get there.
How tall are you?
I am approx 175cm, which is slightly under 5’9” (5.89 feet to be exact) I have a long torso, which means my hair growth from BSL to WL may take longer for me to achieve than women who are shorter/shorter torsos than myself.
If you have any other questions, please feel free to leave me a comment and I will add them to this post.
Thank You
LDx
